FAQ
How projects, publications, pricing, and launch days work — in one place.
What should I know first?
Create a free project for your product, then publish an editorial article under it. Each publication includes one contextual dofollow link. One free publication per website needs a Hed Press badge; more are $29. Pages go live at 08:00 UTC on the launch day you pick.
Basics
What is Hed Press?
Hed Press is a publication at https://hedpress.com. You create a free project for your product, then publish an editorial article under it. Each publication includes one contextual dofollow link and is listed in public the day it goes live.
What is the difference between a project and a publication?
A project is the product record: name, website, summary, categories, competitors, and assets. It is free and public with a nofollow site link. A publication is the editorial article under that project. It carries the single dofollow link and is what appears in the homepage launch feed.
How is this different from a logo listing or directory?
A logo listing is a catalog row. A Hed Press publication is a page someone can read, with the product link inside the text. The homepage indexes those pages by launch day.
Is the link dofollow?
Yes. Every published publication has one dofollow link. The anchor does not use nofollow, sponsored, or ugc. Open the live URL and inspect the link — that attribute is guaranteed. A ranking is not.
Pricing and plans
What does it cost?
Projects are free. One free publication is allowed per website if your site links to https://hedpress.com — a natural text link is enough; the official badge image is optional. Additional publications for that website are $29. Both include a guaranteed dofollow backlink. The $29 plan adds SEO, AEO & GEO optimization, FAQ schema, agent surfaces, a custom featured image, a Pinterest pin, auto IndexNow, and schedule-again-for-tomorrow up to 3 times.
What does the free plan require?
Your site must link to https://hedpress.com (the official badge image is optional), and that link should stay up while the page is live. Free publications share a daily queue of 5 slots. You do not get the SEO/AEO/GEO pass, FAQ schema, llms.txt listing, custom featured image, Pinterest pin, IndexNow, or relaunches on the free plan.
What do I get for $29?
An editorial publication with one dofollow link, no badge requirement, SEO/AEO/GEO editing, a direct-answer block and FAQ schema, Article structured data, llms.txt listing, a richer Markdown twin, a custom featured image, a Pinterest pin, automatic IndexNow for the HTML and Markdown URLs, and schedule-again-for-tomorrow up to 3 times from the dashboard. Paid pages do not take a free queue slot.
What is IndexNow?
IndexNow notifies participating search engines that a URL is new or updated. Paid pages are submitted automatically when they go live, and you can re-submit from Actions → Submit to IndexNow. A successful response emails you a confirmation. It does not guarantee a crawl or ranking. Free publications do not include IndexNow.
What is Schedule again for tomorrow?
Paid publications can get extra homepage exposure up to three times from the dashboard. The article stays live; a Relaunch appearance is scheduled for tomorrow’s homepage feed and links to the same page. No new Pinterest pin or IndexNow. Free listings can upgrade to $29 in the dashboard to unlock it.
What do SEO, AEO, and GEO mean here?
SEO means the title, summary, headings, and link are edited so a search engine can tell what the product is. AEO means the page is structured for answer engines (direct answer, FAQ schema, Markdown twin). GEO means the opening states what the product is, who it is for, and where the link goes, in sentences a generative engine can quote. These passes are on the $29 plan only.
Why is this $29 when agencies charge much more?
Hed Press is the publication. Agencies often charge $500 to $1,000 for one editorial backlink on a site you do not run. Here the page is published on this domain, listed in public, and priced at $29 with the full exposure stack — or free when your site links back here.
Projects
How many projects can I create?
You can create multiple projects, but only one project is allowed per website URL. Categories are limited to three per project.
Are project pages indexed?
Published projects are public. The site link on a project page is nofollow. The dofollow editorial link lives on the publication article, not the project page.
Can I delete a project?
Yes, from the dashboard Actions menu after confirming. Deleting a project also permanently deletes its publications.
Publications
What do I need to submit a publication?
A project, then a title, summary, body (or AI draft), product name, link text and URL, up to three categories, optional tags, a featured image, and a launch day. Free plans also need a verified link to hedpress.com on your site (badge optional).
What does AI write article do?
It drafts the title, summary, and HTML body from the project and competitors, sets a featured image from the project site when available, and inserts relevant rehosted images into the article. You can still edit everything before scheduling.
How many categories and tags can I use?
Up to three categories per publication. Tags are optional labels for narrower discovery; keep them short and relevant.
Can I delete a publication?
Yes, from the dashboard Actions menu after confirming. Deletion is permanent.
Launch schedule
When do publications go live?
Publications go live at 08:00 UTC on the chosen launch day. Free plans get up to 5 launches per day. Paid publications are unlimited and do not consume free slots.
What do Draft, Pending, Scheduled, and Published mean?
Draft means the article is saved but not queued. Pending means a $29 publication is waiting for payment. Scheduled means it is queued for a launch day at 08:00 UTC. Published means it is live on the site and listed in the public feed.
What happens after I pay $29?
When payment confirms, the publication is marked paid and automatically scheduled for the launch day you selected. You do not need to schedule it again.
Why do free pages sometimes wait?
Hed Press publishes 5 free pages each day. If that day's slots are full, a free page stays scheduled for a later day in queue order. A $29 page does not wait in that free queue.
Account and support
How do I sign in?
Use an email magic link, or Google or GitHub when those options are enabled. Magic-link email is sent through Autosend.
Will I get email updates?
Yes. You receive emails when a project is created or deleted, and when a publication is created, scheduled, published (goes live), or deleted.
How do I request a correction or takedown?
Email hi@hedpress.com with the page URL, what is wrong, and how to reach you. For account deletion, include the email on the account.
Still stuck?
